I am a student from China, planning to apply for the EE MS program of UFL this fall. I find myself covering all the requirements, except for the AW of 3.5, for I've got a AW score of 3.0, lower than the requirement given on the web. I am wondering, whether the AW requirement is a rigid one? Will I be rejected due to my AW score, even though I perform well in other aspects?

my question:
My college can provide me with the offical transcripts, diploma and degree certificate in both Chinese and English. There will be Dean's signature and offical seals on them. Will this kind of transcripts meet your requirement of "certified" English translation? Or they have to be certified by other authorities in USA?

During the admissions process we require only unofficial transcripts, meaning that you must open sealed envelopes and scan them into the system. We will only require hard copies from admitted students.

Admission to our Graduate Program is restricted by the availability of space, faculty supervisors and financial support.  Based on the information that you have provided, we would not recommend that you apply to our program because your proficiency in the English language is not adequate to follow a graduate program at this University.  TOEFL score must be a minimum of 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based) or 100 for TOEFL iBT to be considered. International English Language Testing Service needs to be a minimum overall band score of 7.0 with a minimum score of 6.5 in each component.

There is nothing that you do to waive the TOEFL in the online application, it is processed/reviewed by the grad school. If you are admitted, you can apply to TA for each quarter that you are here. There is also the possibility of receiving a TA/RA offer with admission if a faculty so chooses. You do not apply to serve as an RA, a faculty member will make an offer to you. New Master's students do have the opportunity to TA/RA, but usually not in the first quarter unless offered a funding package along with admission. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for your interest in our program!  If you have met the English Proficiency requirement through full-time study in the US, please enter "waived by department" in the "Registration number" field of the application.  You may enter "0" for all TOEFL scores, and the current date in place of the "exam date".

Q:Is it a strict line for applicants to get 100 or above TOEFL score?
A:Please note that there is no official "minimum" TOEFL score under which we will not consider a student. The scores mentioned on our site are for placement purposes only and are used to determine whether admitted international students are required to take USC's International Student Exam (ISE) when they come here.

               b):Will my choice of academic track influence the result of my application?

Thanks for your inquiry. Applicants must choose your specific ECE Grad Program major based on what you select as your primary track of study. Further along in the application when you get to the program-specific questions, you are asked if you would like to select a secondary track choice.

Please note that review by your second-choice track is not automatic. This is done at the discretion of the admissions committee. The admissions committee may also decide that another track may be better suited for you based on your particular research interests.

Applying to more than one track does not increase your chances of being admitted. In fact in some cases, it may hurt your application because faculty expect students at the graduate level to know specifically the field within Electrical & Computer Engineering to which you wish to make your contribution. If all of our applicants were permitted to apply to multiple tracks, we would never complete the application evaluation process.
