Is there any minimum score requirements for the TOEFL and GRE?

小秘的回答：
I’d definitely suggest taking the TOEFL again, since 100 is the minimum and your first score is so close.  Applying early has no effect on whether or not you will be admitted to the program; every application is reviewed according to its merits.
There is not a minimum for the GRE, but good scores are certainly a factor we consider.

1.       We can use your TOEFL score as long as you apply before March and weadmit before April.
2.       Yes, either one.
3.       Yes, as long as your grades and test scores are good.
4.       No, only one program (and if you apply for PhD and we deny, wecannot simply move the application over to MS)

1, Yes, TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years.

2, To make an initial review of yourapplication, we would need the unofficial transcripts fromundergraduate/graduate coursework.  If you were accepted in to the program,we would then request the final, official transcripts as well as proof ofdegree.

4, The PhD program consists of 72 credits. 30 M.S.credits may be applied to the PhD program, but a typical M.S. degree program is36 credits.

小秘的回答：
1) Please note that there are three different options when applying to
graduate school: MS program, MS/PhD program, and PhD program.
Basically the MS/PhD program is for those applicants who will be
receiving or have received a BS degree only and would like to earn a PhD
(they cannot apply directly to the PhD program since they have not
earned an MS degree beforehand). If admitted, they will begin their
studies pursuing a MS degree and continue on until they receive their
PhD. However, it is also important to note that one can always drop the
PhD aspect of the program and complete only their Master's degree if any
problems should arise.

Additionally, if the Admissions Committee does not feel as though the
applicant is strong enough to be admitted directly into the MS/PhD
program, they can recommend that they be admitted into the MS program only.

2) If you are interested in being considered for financial support, then
you might have a better chance of being awarded support if you apply to
the MS/PhD program; PhD applicants are given primary consideration for
financial support, although some MS applicants will most likely still be
awarded some type of support.

3) If you wish to be considered for financial support (including
TAships, RAships, or certain fellowships), you need to complete the
electronic online application on the Graduate Division's website
(www.graddiv.ucsb.edu/eapp), pay the application fee, and turn in all of
the required application materials ALL by the December 17th deadline. No
additional forms are required & international students are eligible to
apply.

I'm not sure what you mean about your financial certificate, however as
. check 1point3acres for more.long as you follow the guidelines mentioned above, then your application
will automatically be considered for financial support.

Thank you for your inquiry. If you are awarded an assistantship for teaching or research that is 20 hours per week, you will qualify for the in-state tuition rate. We have many financial support awards in the form of fellowships and assistantships available to our newly applying students. They are detailed further here on our website:

The admissions committee evaluates applicants concurrently for consideration for admission and financial support. Only the TOTAL score of 87 is required.  The section scores are SUGGESTED minimums.

For the internet-based TOEFL (TOEFL iBT), the following are suggested minimum passing scores for each section and the required minimum total passing score:
    Writing: 25
    Speaking: 24
    Reading: 21
    Listening: 17
    Total minimum passing score: 87

Applicants with an overall score LOWER than 87 will not be admitted.

Thank you for your email. You will not automatically be disqualified because of that 20; especially since your overall score meets the requirement for full admission with no provision. I would suggest contacting the Office of International Services, since they are the ones who set the minimum TOEFL requirements. They can be reached via email at internationalservices@umd.edu.
