answer: 24是助教的最低要求，但是如果你不要奖的话103是最低的要求。严格卡分但是你可以刷分，我们取最高分。

question3:申请financial aid的话是不是会减小录取的概率？
answer: 不会

以上就是我和UIUC 航空航天工程系小秘的对话结果。希望给要申请AAE的苦逼孩子们一些信息，因为地里面AAE的实在是太少了！

The funding documents may be written by hand and emailed to me at tank@illinois.edu.  All graduate admission applications are considered for all funding options.  It does not matter how you respond to the type of financial aid question.  We will only consider the highest TOEFL score.

Hi Staci,After decided to apply for UIUC, I have checked the application system. It is a very nice system! But I still have some questions to ask or confirm.

1.In the following form, I have downloaded the form, but I can't edit it. Does it mean that I should fill the form by hand and send you through mail?

2.I have also seen the form of financial aid. Frankly speaking, I want a financial aid for that my family is not very rich. But I still conern that if filling this form will diminish my chance to get enrollment into UIUC because UIUC is my dream school!

3. I have taken TOEFL exam twice. In the first time, I was ill and didn't perform well, only got 89. Therefore, should I include the two scores in the application form?

Thank you for your interest in our graduate programs at Rice University.

If you wish to apply, please visit our website for more information
regarding application requirements, Spring and Fall 2013 admission
deadlines, and our online application system, which you must use to
apply. Please be sure to follow all of the instructions by providing us
with the necessary information and by uploading all of the required
documents. Please do not mail any documents to us or they will not be
considered in your application. This includes transcripts, which have to

Regarding the GRE and TOEFL, we do require official scores. Please
contact ETS and request that they send us your scores by the deadline.
Our school code is 6609, and our department code is 0402 for the GRE and
78 for the TOEFL. If you have taken the GRE and/or TOEFL prior to
application, please note that your scores are only valid for 5 years. If
your scores have expired, you must provide new scores. Also, Rice
University does not have a minimum GRE score required for admission. We
will accept your scores from ETS if they arrive after the January 6th
deadline; however, it is very important that you report your scores
accurately on your application for review.

Regarding TOEFL waivers, as stated on our website, applicants who
completed a previous degree at either an American university or a
university whose primary language of instruction is English is qualified
for a TOEFL waiver from Rice University. If you meet this requirement,
. .иyou need not indicate so on your application as this waiver will be
applied automatically when your application is under review.

Regarding transcripts, we do not require official copies prior to your
acceptance; however we do require an electronic copy of your
transcripts. Please upload electronic copies of your transcripts (these
can be scanned from the official copies if your university does not
provide unofficial electronic copies) into the application site when you
are applying. We will request official copies only if and when you are
accepted into Rice.

Regarding letters of recommendation, in our online application, you will
provide us with your recommenders’ email addresses. When you submit your
completed application, our system will automatically send an email to
your recommenders with a link to the recommendation portion of our
online application. They will fill out the recommendation form and then,
if they choose to, upload a letter of recommendation. All letters of
recommendation must be completed this way, no exception. Please do not
mail letters to us, or they will not be considered in your application.

Our application site is currently open and accepting both Spring and
Fall 2013 applications.  Please note that we only accept MCS
applications for Spring admissions. If you wish to apply to our PhD
program, you must apply for Fall admissions. Also, please note that we

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS



Master's programs (MS/MSE)

Students from ABET-accredited undergraduate programs who wish to be considered for a master's program must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a four-point scale) in the last two years of undergraduate course work.  We only admit to the MSE degree.  Once a student begins the degree program if they find a faculty member who agrees to supervise a thesis we will than change them to the MS.

                                 

Students from undergraduate programs that are not accredited by ABET must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a four-point scale) in last two years undergraduate course work or have graduated first class with distinction and must score 90 percent or higher on the Quantitative section and 4.0 is desirable in the written portion of the GRE General Test.



PhD program

Applicants with a master's degree who wish to be considered for the PhD program must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a four-point scale) in their master's program.

                                 

Applicants without a master's degree must have a minimum GPA of 3.6 (on a four-point scale) in the last two years of undergraduate course work and have graduated from an ABET-accredited undergraduate program.



GRE

Applicants who have not graduated from an ABET accredited institution must submit GRE scores. The scores should be 720 on the Quantitative section of the GRE General Test.  

Computer based GRE scores are accepted by ASU Graduate Admissions.



TOEFL or IELTS

Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in the English language by scoring at least 550 on the written Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), 213 on the computerized TOEFL, or 80 for the internet based test.  The minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an overall band score of 6.5 with no individual below 6.0.

When you filled out the online application, the EE department has a supplemental application which has the statement of purpose and the recommendation letter form.  Only students applying to our PhD degree are required to submit letters of recommendation.  If you are applying to the master's degree letters of recommendation are not required.



Only official transcripts sent to the Graduate College will be accepted.  Also you must have ETS send your official test scores (TOEFL and GRE) to the Graduate College.



The Application fee cannot be waived.  It is $70 for domestic applications and $90 for international applications.

DEADLINES

The deadline for spring admission is July 31, and the deadline for fall admission is December 31. Application decisions will be made after that time. Only complete applications will be considered.



FINANCIAL AID

Graduate Assistantships within the department are highly competitive and typically result from interaction with individual faculty members.  An applicant should plan to support himself totally for the first year in the program.  After the first year the chance for financial assistance is greatly improved.  International students seeking teaching assistantships must demonstrate proficiency in spoken English by scoring at least 50 on the Test of Spoken English (TSE).

小秘的回答：You must submit the financial statement of support at the time you submit your application. This is taken into account for admittance. The $47, 365 is for one academic year.

answers:
1)  You do not need to send your official transcripts by mail.  We ask that you upload your transcripts with your application for evaluation purposes.  If you are admitted, you would then need to submit official transcripts prior to the issuance of your I-20.
2&3)  We need to have the official scores from ETS to consider your application complete.  You may have ETS submit your scores after the deadline.  We probably won't begin to evaluate international applications until the first week in January, so you still have time to submit them.  When they arrive, I will match them to your application.
4) We generally receive between 85-100 applications per year - 60% of which are international applicants.  We plan to accept at least 10-12 new students - both domestic and international.  We have approximately 70 students at the moment, 62% are international.  Of the international students, 24% are from PRC.
