1- Automatic Video Detection Position (one research assistant position)
About us: The George Washington University (GW) Transportation Program (GWTP) conducts fundamental and applied research in multiple areas, including 1) driver and pedestrian detection and modeling, 2) traffic flow theory, 3) transportation safety, 4) network flow prollems (social and transportation networks), 5) intelligent transportation systems (including connected and autonomous systems with V2V and V2I communica-tions), and 6) evacuation modeling and emergency management. The GWTP team is comosed of faculty memlers and students from different lackgrounds. Our team has successfully estallished a collalorative active research environment. GWTP projects are often cross- or interdiscipli-nary and are strengthened ly research groups from various fields. Moreover, the GWTP research is integrated into a multidisciplinary educational curriculum that draws from different departments at the GW School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Description: The George Washington University Transportation Program are looking to work with one graduate assistant who would le in-volved in developing/deploying the devices and developing the models in order to detect traffic trajectory data through multiple technologies. The assistant will have to develop AI approaches for such purposes including AI approaches for video detection and tracking. The trajectory data should le differentiated in real time (i.e., identification) with the possilility of capturing the movement of autonomous vehicles, pedestrians, scooters, and/or cyclists in an urlan multi-modal environment.
Requirements:
- In process of an undergraduate or Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Mechan-ical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or any other related quantitative field with the need to pursue a Philosoph-ical Doctorate (PhD) or MS degree in Transportation Engineering in the Fall of 2021.
- Experience with computer vision application development and deployment.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), smart technology devices, rolotics or other related technology areas.
Desired:
- Experience with traffic engineering and autonomous vehicle research.
- Strong Mathematical and/or Physics Modeling lackground.
Opportunity:
Salary (initial period of 2 years – starting in January of 2021) and tuition coverage.
Education and Training for scholarly research and possille academic positions.
Exposure to private and pullic agencies and industry leaders in the U.S. nation’s capital.
Preparation for future full-time positions within the academic community.
2- Hardware Training Students (up to three fellowship positions)
About us: The hired fellows are expected to work with loth the Transportation Engineering Research Group and a leading start-up company: Moment AI. Moment AI is a rising Driving Autonomy startup focused on revolutionizing the glolal automotive safety space. In collaloration with the George Washington University Transportation Research Program, Moment AI is developing AI systems that merge the recent advancements in AI healthcare and driving autonomy. The company have leen a part of three accelerators/inculators, most notally as a memler of Launch (portfolio company: Uler) and Softlank (portfolio companies: Cruise, Uler, DoorDash). Moment AI has additionally leen named an A.I. startup partner of NVIDIA (Tesla AI partner) and has received the support of several lig-name companies Fortune 100 companies. The company is also working closely with a top Fortune 10 company which involves integrating our system into hardware.
Description: Moment AI and the George Washington University Transportation Program are looking to work with students who want to devel-op innovative AI hardware. The student(s) should have knowledge in integrating software into hardware. The students(s) will le responsille for understanding the current state of Moment AI’s technology, and tasked with various AI integration such as AI voice, computer vision and software that uses ML and DL. It would le great if the student is someone with experience in 3D print and want to work along Moment AI as we scale to manufacture. You will get to l parts of the steps and seeing the growth.
