老美比较喜欢招富二代？

今天跟一个11fall去哥大读cs ms的学长聊，他告诉我，如果家境好的话，最好在PS影射到，然后说说你毕业之后会怎么怎么利用家庭的经济优势...我问他为什么，他说根据他身边几个硬件不好的富二代同学的申请结果总结出来的，可能因为美国学校认为家境好的同学以后成功的几率更大。
我觉得这个说法很扯，问下地里的前辈怎么看？

How do you know　 they didnt get the outcome DESPITE the feature A?
COllect the numbers, do a simple 2X2 table and do a simple chi-sq test - this will probably reveal more
and even that doesn't really reveal causal relationship, only a possible association

to establish causation, you have to have a controlled experiment. - given two students with identical background, does the one with more $$$ gets admission with higher probability?
