The Intelligent Manufacturing SystemsLaboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) atthe University of Central Florida (UCF) has multiple openings for full-time PhDstudents to start in the Spring or Fall semester of 2018. The research focus ofthis lab is to develop new computational methods and tools for smart manufacturingsystems using sensing and artificial intelligence technologies. Example researchthrust areas include (1) data-driven smart manufacturing; (2) real-timemanufacturing process monitoring, diagnostics, and prognostics; (3) reliabilityengineering and quality control; (4) cyber physical systems. Desired skillsinclude machine learning, statistics, applied mathematics, engineeringoptimization or engineering physics, and signal/image processing.
These PhD positions will be fully-fundedthrough Graduate Fellowships, Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs), or GraduateTeaching Assistants (GTAs). An ideal candidate is expected to have an earned BSor MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, ComputerScience, or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field such as applied mathor engineering physics. Previous experience in sensors, data analytics, computer programming, and process monitoring are preferred but not required. Interestedindividuals should first send an email to Prof. Dazhong Wu at dazhong.wu@ucf.edu with the subject line “Ph.D. Application - UCF” along with a CV/resume, unofficialtranscripts, GRE and TOEFL scores.
