With the advent of the information era, electronic books have become prevalent gradually for reasons that not only can they save a prodigious amount of money but also they take up less room in our chamber. Recently, some scholars who specialize in the prospect of electronic books and printed books stated that electronic books would eventually replace traditional books in the next 20 years, which sounds astonishing at first glance.
However, after contemplation of this issue, I am in favor of this viewpoint for reasons as follows.
First and foremost,  electronic books boast convenience and portability, which dwarfs traditional printed books. When users roam on the beach or sit on the seat of a subway train, they can read electronic books to enjoy their journey due to the portability of electronic books. In contrast，Passengers have no choice but to carry on a heavy printed book which may weigh around 500 grams and take up enormous space, burdening passengers with a myriad of inconveniences. Besides, students also don’t have to carry heavy textbooks to school, lessening their burden physically.
Additionally, electronic books are more friendly on the user interface, which has some visual buttons to select a given chapter in the book. Meanwhile, readers can search by some keywords to find some contents they take an interest in. Thereby, It is irrefutable that readers are inclined to electronic books, which can save them a bunch of time in finding some specific content they used to be when reading printed books. What’s more, the business world has already sensed the great prospect of electronic books. Those book merchants have already set foot in this field. Take amazon, the electronic business juggernaut, for example,  they already dominated the domestic market in the states and occupied most parts of the world where mature legislation has been established.
Admittedly, even though the prospect of traditional printed books is bleak in general, some places in the world will not embrace this revolution in the world of the book for reasons that they lack mature legislation to protect the copyright of those books, which makes the publicity of the electronic book doomed. Moreover, some parts of the world are underdeveloped, and thereby they definitely can not embrace electronic books right off the bat.
To sum up, I hold the firm conviction that electronic books will prevail in most parts of the world in the next 20 years.
