张然博士现为北卡罗来纳大学夏洛特分校电子与计算机工程系助理教授。其主要研究方向为人工智能驱动的未来无线通信网络资源优化,无人机通信网络的分布式智能管理,多无人机硬件平台设计等。张然博士于2010年和2016年分别在清华大学和加拿大滑铁卢大学获得学士学位和博士学位,之后在加拿大华为公司渥太华研究院任职系统设计师3年,参与负责华为5G极化码的设计,优化及推标工作。2019年到2023年7月,张然博士任迈阿密大学牛津分校助理教授。张然博士的论文曾多次发表在IEEE顶级期刊和会议上,并获得了WASA 2022和IEEE GLOBECOM 2014最佳论文奖。其主持的关于无人机通信网络的分布式智能管理的研究工作获得了美国自然科学基金(NSF) Engineering Research Initiation (ERI)项目和迈阿密大学Faculty Research Award的支持。
Dr. Ran Zhang is currently an Assistant Professor at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, NC, USA. His research interests include AI-powered radio resource management for next-generation wireless communication networks, distributed and autonomous management of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), design and prototyping of multi-drone platforms. Dr. Zhang received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, and University of Waterloo, Canada, in 2010 and 2016, respectively. From 2015 to 2018, he worked as a system engineer in Ottawa Research Center, Huawei Technologies, Canada, where he was mainly responsible for the design, optimization, and 5G standardization of polar coding. From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Ran Zhang worked as an assistant professor at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Miami University, OH, USA. Dr. Ran Zhang is the recipient of the Best Paper Award in WASA 2022 and IEEE GLOBECOM 2014. His research works on distributed autonomous regulation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) based communication networks received sponsorship from NSF Engineering Research Initiation (ERI) Program (2022) and CFR faculty Research Award from Miam University in 2021.
